About 33 fireworks shows lit up the skies simultaneously as the clock struck 12 and ushered in the New Year 2021. Abu Dhabi s Al Wathba hosted a 35-minute fireworks show that is set to smash two world records. Dubai s Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Dubai Frame; Sharjah s Al Majaz Waterfront; Ras Al Khaimah s Al Marjan Island; Ajman s Corniche; and Fujairah s Corniche put up spectacular shows that will light up the memories of revellers for years to come. NYE 2021: Burj Khalifa metro station is now closed

@rta dubai/ Twitter The Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station has been closed ahead of the New Year s Eve celebrations in Downtown Dubai. It will remain closed till 6:00 am on Friday, January 1, 2021. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has advised commuters to use the Financial Centre and Business Bay Metro Stations to reach the Burj Khalifa area. It has also called on the public to use the dedicated pedestrian crossing at the event location and to comply with the preventive guidelines. The Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station has been closed. Image Credit: Virendra Saklani/Gulf News 12:10AM January 1, 2021 It was a celebration of togetherness, community remembrance and a powerful tribute to the UAE frontliners as Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, lit up Dubai skies with an amazing fireworks and laser show to usher in the New Year. Before the main event, flags of various countries were displayed on Burj Khalifa. Japan and South Korea came first as they celebrated their New Year at 7pm (UAE time), followed by China, the Philippines and Singapore at 8pm; while Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia came at 9pm. India’s flag was displayed at 10.30pm as well as Sri Lanka’s flag. Pakistan colours, and the flags of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were showcased at 11pm.
