innes, congratulations. what you have done has been something that is really inspirational. how do you feel getting this award? yeah, ifeel like it s a real privilege. i never set out to achieve awards from this. ijust wanted to raise awareness about, like, climate related issues within the athletics and sporting world, trying to get up and coming athletes think about what they re doing, and their impacts on the climate as well. earlier this year, innes turned down the opportunity to compete in the cross country championships in australia because of the impact flying there would have on the environment. it was like, well, i can go there and i might do really well, but can ijustify, like, taking that flight with just doing, like, one race, running for, like, five minutes, which, obviously, would mean so much if i was to, like, do really well, but, like, the emissions from that flight is just so great, and ijust, at the time, couldn t justify it at all. ready? three, ....
the flow of aid. this comes as new images appear to show dozens of palestinian men, stripped to their underwear, with their hands tied behind their back, being held by israel defence forces. it s not clear if they have surrendered or if they have been taken by the military. israel has not said who the men are, but it has confirmed that israeli forces are making arrests in gaza. from jerusalem, here s our international editor, jeremy bowen. a warning you may find some of the images upsetting. video emerged this afternoon of palestinian men taken for interrogation. bbc staff recognised the town in northern gaza as beit lahia and we have geolocated the video there, too. palestinian diplomats said these were savage images evoking humanity s darkest times. the israeli army said only that suspects were being interrogated. posts on social media said the men had been sheltering with their families at a un school and that others were killed during the israeli raid. in this photo ....
amount of coal they burned but a commitment on oil and gas use remains elusive. at the same time a meeting is also due to take those between the biggest oil producers and their allies, collectively known as opec plus of which the host, uae is a member. against that backdrop i have been speaking to david schlossberg, director of the sydney environment institute to remain sceptical about the of this year s climate talks. i think there are two clear problems. the first is the capture of the process by the fossil fuel industry and the second is the process itself. that is just the way it works. it means that petro states or countries that would captured by the fossil fuel industry can object to language and undermine real and strong changes. on the power of the fossil fuel industry, for this meeting we may be disappointed. we have the head of an oil state company setting the agenda and to me, that isjust an illustration of capture. he says it will be good to have the fossil ....
israel gaza conflict. and the developments over the last few hours now. the us secretary of state, antony blinken, has returned to tel aviv. this is his fourth the that make third trip there since the conflict broke out on october a temporary deal for paul s infighting is due to expire in the next few hours but talks have been ongoing in an effort to extend that temporary truce. senior israeli advisor told the bbc earlier that israel would agree to an extension as long as hamas continues to release hostages. earlier on, ten israeli and four thai hostages held by hamas in the gaza strip arrived in israel after being handed over to the red cross. two russian israeli women were also freed earlier. in exchange, israel announced 30 palace indian women and teenage boys have been freed from israeli prisons in return for the latest round of releases that we are seeing. meanwhile israel are still trying to confirm a claim by hamas that a ten month old baby, the youngest hostage ....
