Early voting is up in this year’s primary election, say local elections officials.
Kenny Rhyne, interim director of elections for the county, said as of the end of the day on Thursday, a total of 2,030 people had cast a ballot during early voting in Burke County.
The first day of early voting saw a little more than 300 voters casting a ballot in Burke County.

The Rutherford College early voting site is seeing the most voter turnout so far, likely due to the Valdese municipal elections, elections officials say.
