Locals are being warned of a very high fire danger in the region today and tomorrow as Bundaberg records one of the hottest February days on record.
Today s maximum of 37.9 , recorded at Bundaberg Airport, beats the previous record of 37.7 at that weather station.
However, February 1990 saw an even hotter day recorded at the Bundaberg Post Office when the mercury rose to 38.3 degrees.
Some unofficial records saw areas such as Thabeban shown as reaching a top of 38.1 degrees.

How Bundy region's tourism fared amid chaos of 2020

Local businesses have been praised for their efforts navigating the global pandemic.
Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid said the Bundaberg tourism industry had fared reasonably well in comparison to other regions around Australia.
While international visitors and expenditure did drop throughout the early months of COVID, the region had welcomed holiday makers, friends and family travellers since Queensland travel restrictions eased in June.
Ms Reid said the region was already established as an ideal drive holiday destination for Australians and had appreciated consistent domestic visitation in the last six months of 2020.
There is a strong demand for cafes, tours and experiences around the region, she said. ....

It’s Bundaberg’s main thoroughfare, but what hasn’t changed about Bourbong St is its still just as busy as years gone by.
While the busy arterial road may have changed in looks, there are still familiar landmarks standing today, such as the Bundaberg Post Office, which has been pictured since the late 1800s.
The busy street has also gone from a wide dirt road with horse-drawn carriages and wagons to bitumen with thousands of cars passing through each day.
