Rape in Miri lock-up: Bukit Aman acts against 11 senior and low-ranked police personnel

LUMPUR: Eleven senior and low-ranked police personnel will face disciplinary action following a police report made on a rape case at the Miri central police lock-up in Sarawak in January.
Bukit Aman Department of Integrity and Standards Compliance director, Datuk Zamri Yahya said in a statement today that disciplinary action (demotion or sacking) would be taken against them by the JIPS for failure or negligence in carrying out their duties.
He said two police reports were received, the first from a police officer and the second by the victim who claimed the incident occurred due to negligence. ....

PETALING JAYA: Eleven policemen are likely to be fired or demoted over the rape of a 16-year-old detainee allegedly by another detainee in a police lock-up in Miri.
Bukit Aman Department of Integrity and Compliance Standards (JIPS) director Comm Datuk Zamri Yahya said the department has investigated the case and misconduct of personnel in the incident.
Apart from the criminal action taken on two police personnel, action (demotion or sacking) will be taken against 11 other senior and junior officers who were found to have failed, and were careless in carrying out their duties, he said in a statement Monday (Feb 15). ....
