Sen. David Miramant: LD 1411 Is Giving Working Mainers a Fair Shot by State Senator Dave Miramant Tuesday, June 1, 2021 1:37 PM Maine State Senator David Miramant David Miramant represents Maine Senate District 12, which includes most of Knox County. No matter the circumstances, one thing will always be true: Maine depends on small businesses, and small businesses depend on Maine. With close to 99% of Maine businesses categorized as small, small businesses are central to our economy and our success. We should do everything we can to ensure their survival. To help make sure Maine businesses and workers – and all Maine people – are getting the biggest benefit from these public projects, Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, has introduced the Buy American, Build Maine Act. I’m a proud cosponsor of this bill, and I’m excited to share why. ....

Making a purchase with that label gave us a sense of pride in the fact that you were supporting a neighbor while getting what you paid for. Somewhere along the line, that label became harder to find. If you are like me, you would like to see this trend reversed. That is why earlier this month, I proudly cosponsored a bill from Senate President Troy Jackson, LD 1411, “An Act To Establish the Maine Buy American and Build Maine Act.” ....
