FARGO North Dakota State University President Dean Bresciani plans to step down after higher education leaders did not give him a two-year contract, despite doing so for other state university and college presidents.
State Board of Higher Education Chair Nick Hacker announced during a Tuesday, June 29, meeting that Bresciani would leave the position in 2022. The NDSU president plans to take on a tenured professor position in health sciences and education. ....

Fargo-Moorhead universities, colleges plan to relax COVID measures

Minnesota State University Moorhead, Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) and Concordia College are awaiting updates from the Minnesota Department of Health. Gov. Tim Walz was slated to lift the mask mandate by July 1, depending on when 70% of Minnesota adults received their first shot.
MSUM, Concordia and M State said they would consult health officials to determine when mask mandates on campus could be lifted.
Other than that, it s expected the three Moorhead schools will mostly restore in-person learning, though online education will still be an option, leaders said. NDSU expects a “full return to campus” this fall, spokeswoman Brynn Rawlings said. ....

NDSU retired administrator and alumnus Prakash Mathew has written a new book titled “We are Called…To Do the Right Thing.” The book is scheduled to be published May 5 by the NDSU Press.
Mathew had a 34-year career at NDSU, serving as vice president for student affairs from 2006 until his retirement in 2014. He has been associated with the university since 1976, except for a four-year absence when he was director of Residence Life at Mankato State University. Following his retirement, he served as NDSU’s interim director of athletics. ....

Fargo – More than 20 North Dakota State University nursing and pharmacy students are volunteering to help Protect the Herd during the COVID-19 vaccination clinic on campus for students, faculty and staff receiving the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine on March 31 and April 14.
I made the choice to get my COVID-19 vaccine to protect myself and others, and I chose to volunteer administering COVID-19 vaccines at NDSU because I want to be able to assist others on campus in protecting themselves and others as well, said NDSU nursing student Aaron Dwyer who will graduate in 2021. He has accepted a job to work in an oncology unit at a Fargo hospital when he graduates. ....
