.- Two new, original exhibitions, “From Heroes to Immortals: Classical Mythological Prints” and “A Room with a View: Scenes of the Italian Countryside,” open May 15 at 10 a.m. at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. On the Town: OKC art exhibitions to capture imaginations

As you wait for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s upcoming major exhibit featuring “The Painters of Pompeii,” let two new exhibitions get you in the mood as they take your imagination either back in time or to the Italian countryside.
Opening at 10 a.m. Saturday, “From Heroes to Immortals: Classical Mythological Prints” and “A Room With a View: Science of the Italian Countryside” will feature works from OKCMOA’s permanent collection.
“From Heroes to Immortals” will feature 500 years of work on paper that explore people’s fascination with stories from classical mythology, said Bryn Schockmel, curator for both exhibitions, in a news release. “A Room With a View” will feature the Italian countryside’s sweeping vistas and ancient runes, especially from 19th-century American artists. ....

Armstrong Auditorium, the stunning performance venue in far north Edmond, continues to bring quality and world-renowned music to live audiences. It will kick off its new season with “Two Fathers, Two Sons” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7.
The program features acclaimed cellist Julian Schwarz and his father, internationally recognized conductor Gerard Schwarz, performing with the Mozart Orchestra of New York. Gerard Schwarz has won seven Emmy Awards and eight American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) awards and received 14 Grammy nominations. Thursday’s show also includes Armstrong’s music director, Ryan Malone, on harpsicord and his son Seth Malone on cello. ....
