Some North Carolina health departments are having trouble reporting COVID-19 vaccinations in the state’s new data system, causing them to receive fewer doses as more vaccines are assigned, reports WNCN News from Raleigh, NC.

Data in the state’s new system, CVMS, this week showed that some counties used 15 percent or less of their assigned first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“When you told me the state reported that 15 percent or less of our allotment is being used here, I was shocked,” Bruce Robistow, director of Halifax County Health, told the network Jan. 15. “The last thing we do is underperformance. We just have problems.” ....

COVID: Halifax County reports 4 new deaths


Halifax County Health Director Bruce Robistow released the latest update regarding COVID-19.
As of Dec. 30, the Halifax County Health Department reports 2,835 total positive COVID-19 cases. Sadly, four additional deaths have been added for today. The following is a breakdown of the positive cases:
• 47 new positive COVID-19 cases reported since Dec. 29
• 49 (1.7%) COVID-19 related deaths
The graph shows positive cases beginning March 25 through Dec. 30. The peaks and valleys indicate the daily number of positive cases. The yellow line indicates the trend of positive cases. The graph shows a sustained increase in the trend and an increase since yesterday.

With the year 2021, officials talked on Wednesday about the challenges faced in 2020 and what they hope for in the new year.
Halifax County Sheriff Wes TrippSheriff Wes Tripp said the biggest challenge in 2020 was dealing with COVID-19, but hopes folks in the area will get vaccinated, starting with our most vulnerable.
“We’ve already seen where our hospital employees at Vidant North are getting vaccinated, then we want to get those in the rest homes and also those on the front line — the first responders and then everybody,” he said. “That’s probably been the biggest issue other than fighting crime with the underlying issues with COVID-19 and how we have to deal with it and how we’ve dealt with our employees coming down with it. We’ve been blessed to have survived, and we continue. Our service has not been slowed any in any way because of COVID-19, but it’s just added extra stress to the situation.” ....
