25 Years Ago – 1996 The Mandan Art Association held its 38th Annual Art Show this week at the Mandan Community Center. This year’s honorees were Caroline Conrath, a charter member of the association, and her brother, the late Ted Conrath. The show also displayed more than 400 pieces of artwork, representing 92 adult exhibitors and 73 high school students. Painting demonstrators were Stephanie Delmore, Susan Lundberg and Amy Stuart McNalley. According to Colette Meidinger, MAA president, special thanks go to Mandan’s Boy Scout Troop 54 for delivering, setting up, tearing down and returning to storage, the display boards used for exhibiting the art pieces.

Wonderful Water: Preparing for Board Appointments For this edition of “Wonderful Water,” two members of the Orange Water and Sewer Authority’s Board of Directors joined 97.9 The Hill’s Brighton McConnell on the air. Chair of the board Ray DuBose and Vice Chair Bruce Boehm shared details on how people interested in representing the community on OWASA’s board can get involved. The service agency’s Board of Directors is made up of nine board members, all residents of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Orange County. Anyone within the OWASA service area or Orange County are eligible to volunteer to become a board member, but must go through approval and appointment processes by their respective local government.
