Reporter more than a dozen people are staggering in every shift. Sick with the symptoms but the er doctor i just talked to here says he is surprised to hear that man from this county has died. That is pretty unusual. A healthy young man dying, but it can happen. Reporter the h1n1 flu struck down other wise healthy, young and middleaged people not considered high risk. Now its back. Its really all ages, i mean sometimes the patients are admitted for this. Sometimes they go home. But everyone in general is pretty sick. I can say im really sorry. California department of Public Health officials said that the cases, the number of cases and the number of deaths are rising rapidly. And that seems to and getting peoples attention. Health officials said they are investigating 28 deaths as flu related. Im concerned it could spread, i know it causes complications with older people and young people. Theres no reason to think this is a more lethal flu virus. This time its the h1n1 swine flu virus, the virus that five years ago killed 600. They die of res provide torrey respiratory failure. The hospital has one of these, heart lung machines that saved lives during the last pandemic. It saved one patient this week. At 50,000 each most hospitals dont have one for flu patients. Its a legitimate concern, its a difficult policy question as we try to rein in health care costs. Far more Cost Effective get a flu shot. Its not too late. ....
