saw in yugoslavia where people have been taught to hate this other population for so long. the serbs, the bosnians and that sort of thing. that is not the case here. ukrainians and russians have been slovic brothers forever. so there is a lot of shock at the images we saw coming out of bucha. and shock at the idea that you know, with the kind of interviews that you ve been having, andrea, the lack of a war time commander in the field on the ground in ukraine calling all of the shots is another thing that has completely be fuddled the pentagon. the idea that this war is being run out of moscow, which it essentially is, american intelligence officials have concluded that, and it is one of the reasons why the russian military has had the kind of problems that they re having. you can t respond very quickly to to events on the ground if
and do more of it. ainsley: colonel, i m sorry, to interrupt you. colonel, we wanted to have you on with secretary rumsfeld because the two of you are teaming up and we want to learn about that. first tell the folks at home if they are not familiar with your son s story who is such a hero. i interviewed you a year or two years ago when your book came out called brothers forever travis and his best friend were killed fighting for our country. this weekend we remember both of those individuals as well as all the other men and women who have died fighting for our country. tell us about travis. travis naval academy grad his roommate at the naval academy navy seal. my son was a marine did two tours in iraq like so many of our young men and women today. they keep going back in harm, way. he was in fallujah, iraq his first tour with first recon battalion and second tour military transition team member actually embedded with the iraqis. he was ambushed. and killed in action.
possible from the revolutionary war, all the way through afghanistan and iraq and at arlington, tomorrow, you might notice colonel tom manion he ll be there visiting his son travis marine who died trying to save his men in iraq. he ll also be visiting his son s best friend and naval academy roommate brendan looney. he went on to to be a s.e.a.l. and died in afghanistan a few years after his best friend was killed. the two who were inseparable in life are buried side by side at arlington national cemetery. in the book brothers forever, their legacy lives on. joining us now to share this story of friendship and courage, travis dad, colonel tom manion. the book is fabulous. there is only a couple of times i had had toto put it down because the tears welled up. they signed up before 9/11. when did you know your son was going to navy. when did he make that decision
