Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Truman State softball team was in a must-win situation. They had just been swept in a pair of doubleheaders against Lewis and Indianapolis, the top two teams in the GLVC, and had been knocked out of a GLVC Tournament spot with a 9-13 conference record.
The Truman State softball team played through what was likely its toughest pair of doubleheaders of the season, and also its final four home games of the season, this weekend. The Bulldogs hosted the top two teams in the GLVC, starting with second-place Lewis and then Indianapolis, the third-ranked team in the nation. Truman was blown out twice by Lewis and then suffered a pair of close losses to Indianapolis.
The Truman State softball team was able to finish the season strong over the weekend, going 3-1 over their final four games to finish with an overall record of 17-37 and conference record of 7-17. They split a road doubleheader with Rockhurst on Saturday before heading home and sweeping William Jewell on Sunday.
The Truman State softball team split a conference doubleheader on the road against Quincy on Sunday, dropping the first game before snapping a nine-game losing streak with a win in the finale. The Bulldogs are now 4-16 in conference play with four games left in the season.
