Former Virginia rower Hannah Osborne earned a silver medal in the women’s double sculls Tuesday at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Osborne and teammate Brooke Donoghue of New Zealand finished second in a time of 6:44.83 behind gold-winning Romania at 6:41.03. Osborne rowed at UVA in 2014 before returning to New Zealand to pursue her national team career. ....

Rowers Brooke Donoghue and Hannah Osborne have won New Zealand s second medal of the Tokyo Olympics after claiming silver in the women s double sculls today.
Romania s Ancuta Bodnar and Simona Radis won gold after sprinting away to claim victory in 6.41.03, with Netherland s Lisa Scheenaard de Weert and Roos de Jong in third at 6.45.73.
Donoghue and Osborne came in at 6.44.82.
I m pretty overwhelmed. It was an awesome race, we did our best and I m so glad to have a medal, Donoghue said after the race. ....

TOKYO (Reuters) -The Netherlands and China posted world best times to win gold in the men’s and women’s quad sculls races as Olympic rowing roared back into action at Tokyo’s Sea Forest Waterway on Wednesday.

China clinched the women’s quad sculls in 6:05.13, more than six seconds ahead of silver medallists Poland and bronze winners Australia.
On the men’s side, the Netherlands won gold - one of four medals they picked up during the day’s competition - in 5:32.03, 1.72 seconds ahead of Britain’s crew, with Australia claiming bronze. ....
