After all, there’s nothing sweeter than passing out goodie bags and cards to your peers. That’s why several local schools and districts are finding ways to keep the holiday, and its many in-school celebrations, going for students who opted for in-person learning this year amid the pandemic. “I remember being an elementary kid and coming home with the big envelope that you made out of paper,” said Bob Kraemer, principal of Johnstown’s Warren Street Elementary.  “And you stapled it and filled it with all your Valentine’s Day cards. It’s just a tradition that elementary kids should have. And we didn’t want to lose it.”

Baker is the first resident at Brookdale Nursing home in Novi to receive the vaccine. “I wanted to know if I had to spend some time to see what’s gonna happen. But I feel just fine,” Baker said. This is the second pandemic Baker has experienced. The first was the flu pandemic of 1918. “My dad was killed in a coal mine in Kentucky when I was 8 years old. Things have really been going for me since,” Baker said.

(WBRC) - Leaders at Brookdale Nursing Home hosted their second COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the facility Tuesday, vaccinating around 200 staff and residents. Brookdale leaders said the vaccination clinics have been going well so far, and distribution has been going smoothly. One man we spoke to this afternoon said he felt a personal responsibility to get the vaccine. Charles Smith already received his first round of the COVID-19 shot and is ready for the second.
