Bart station was shut down today after a small fire broke out on the tracks. Lee martinez is there with how passengers are dealing with the closure. Reporter they do have one track up and running right now, floor gonna be delays there are gonna be delays. We do have one track up and running. Crews on the westbound lanes are taking a look at third rail. This is where the fire was. And theyll assess how long its gonna take to get that up and running. Earlier the Train Service was shut down for about an hour. Reporter fire crews saw smoke coming from the west end of the station right in the middle of the tracks. The fire was in the instituting material insulating material surrounding the third rail. Anybody whos been in a bart station and has seen the third rail, and they see the fiberglass cover that goes over the rail, thats what was on fire in this particular case.
