Brockton s Shaw Center COVID-19 vaccine clinic is now open to surrounding towns and Bridgewater State University will open as a regional vaccine site next week.
The change comes after Gov. Charlie Baker announced this week that four of the state s seven mass vaccine sites would close by the end of June and doses would go to regional collaboratives, local clinics and disproportionately affected communities.
“Our local communities deserve safe, convenient COVID-19 vaccine access and the new BSU site will be a welcome addition to the existing locations in our region,” Sen. Marc Pacheco, a Taunton Democrat whose district includes Bridgewater, said in a statement.

BROCKTON Thursday marks the first day that educators in Massachusetts are eligible throughout the state to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
And, in Brockton, by the end of Tuesday, Brockton Public Schools hope that half of its nearly 3,000 staff members will have their first dose.
The school district has partnered with the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center to secure 1,500 vaccine appointments for staff members on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. The Brockton Neighborhood Health Center is a valuable community resource and we re fortunate that their team was able to roll out a vaccine clinic in such a quick and efficient manner for our staff, said Jess Hodges, a spokesperson for Brockton Public Schools.
