New 147-room hotel proposed next to SkyTrain's future Oak-VGH Station

The proposal designed by Zeidler Architecture calls for a new 133-ft-tall, 12-storey hotel building with a total of 147 hotel rooms.
A 220-seat restaurant, and lounge and cafe areas are planned for the main level, next to the main hotel lobby. There will also be three meeting rooms on a lower level. Guests can enter the hotel from both the lower entrance on Laurel Street or the main entrance on West Broadway. ....

The unit mix is seven studios, 20 one-bedroom units, 19 two-bedroom units, and eight three-bedroom units. A 500 sq ft common indoor amenity space on the ground level opens up to an outdoor amenity space fronting the laneway, which is activated by four townhouse units.
“The architectural style is warmly modern West Coast and consists of an extensive use of brick, fiber cement panel, wood accents, and glazing,” reads the design rationale. ....

Another McDonald's employee tests positive for COVID-19 in Vancouver

McDonald’s Canada has reported that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19 in one of its Vancouver stores.
The fast-food chain posted the following case, which is the most recent to be shared in the region:
McDonald’s, 537 W Broadway Vancouver – Positive COVID-19 test of an employee. The employee last worked on January 4.
McDonald’s asks that any guests who may have visited the restaurant and have questions to please take directions from your local public health experts.
