UTICA, N.Y. – Two men charged in a fatal shooting on Brinckerhoff Avenue in Utica last June have been found not guilty of murder.
Jamaal Jackson, 25, was shot on June 17, 2020, and later died at the hospital from his injuries.
Zaharae Wright and Isaiah Fraser were arrested separately, but indicted together in Jackson’s death.
Both Wright and Fraser were found not guilty of second-degree murder on June 10, 2021. ....

FREEHOLD – After being scuttled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, Freehold Borough’s annual Memorial Day parade will return in 2021.
The 147th Memorial Day parade will be held on Memorial Day, May 31. The parade will be preceded by a Service of Reflection to be held at Elks Point at 8:30 a.m. All members of the community are invited to attend the service.
The Service of Reflection is held to honor the memory of all Freehold and other American servicemen and servicewomen who have lost their lives defending the United States. ....

Utica man faces weapon charges following Brinckerhoff Ave traffic stop

A Utica man faces felony weapon charges, city police said.
Joshua Butler, 35, was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and vehicle and traffic violations following a traffic stop Jan. 5 on the 1600 block of Brinckerhoff Avenue, police said.
During the course of the stop, it was learned Butler had outstanding warrants with the Utica Police Department, officials said.
As Butler was being arrested for these warrants, a loaded .40-caliber handgun was found under the driver seat, police said. ....
