Cumberland County Memorial Day observances kick off


Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Spring Lake and other areas will hold events to honor those who died in service to the country.  
There are a number of events scheduled over the next few days, some of which will honor fallen service members while others are military-connected. 
Here are some of them:
Wednesday:  
•The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6018 will hold an observance at 6 p.m. at the post, 116 Chance St., in Fayetteville, said Post Commander Edward Beard.
Thursday:  
• The U.S. Army Special Operations Command will honor soldiers killed while supporting combat operations during 2018, 2019 and 2020 in a ceremony that will be streamed on the command s Facebook page at 10 a.m., according to a news advisory.  ....
