ELGIN, Okla. (TNN) - The man accused of leading police on a high speed chase that spanned from Elgin to Chickasha on Tuesday has been charged by prosecutors.
Authorities say Briar Yates was spotted in a stolen car at a gas station in Elgin. As police approached the truck Yates was driving, he sped off heading eastbound on US-277.
According to the affidavit, Yates reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour and was traveling in the opposite lane of traffic. Police chased Yates on several county roads around Elgin until he used the ramp to enter onto I-44 eastbound.
