Sweetwater County to Receive Extra 975 Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine This Week

ROCK SPRINGS During an informational COVID-19 meeting with public health and local elected officials, Sweetwater County Public Health Director Kim Lionberger informed the group that Sweetwater County will receive a surprise shipment of 975 doses of the Pfizer vaccine this week.
Lionbeger said the shipment is estimated to arrive Tuesday, January 12, or Wednesday, January 13.
Currently, the vaccines (including both the Moderna and Pfizer versions) are being given through appointment only to 1a and 1b categories. Memorial Hospital has asked the public not to call with questions about the vaccination and refer to online sources to see if you are in one of the current priority groups and to then call public health for an appointment. ....

The number of positive COVID-19 infections continues to concern healthcare workers, through there is some good news as infection rates are starting to trend downward slightly.
According to Dr. Jean Stachon, the county’s health officer, Sweetwater County had 615 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the last two weeks. She also said the county has had 16 deaths associated with the disease and has had 2,460 cases recorded in total since the novel coronavirus appeared in the state. Stachon said the positivity rate has declined slightly, but it still remains above 20%.

Health Officer: Sweetwater County Positivity Rate Hovers Around 20 Percent

ROCK SPRINGS During a COVID-19 informational meeting Monday, elected officials were given updates from local healthcare providers and public health.
According to Sweetwater County Public Health Officer Dr. Jean Stachon, Sweetwater County has seen an increase of 615 confirmed positive cases in last 2 weeks, which makes up 25 percent of all the COVID-19 positive cases the county has seen since the beginning of the pandemic.
Sweetwater County’s positivity rate is continuing to hover around 20 percent.

Stachon said there is a downward trend starting across the state and the county is seeing that too.
However, Sweetwater County is second out of all the counties in the amount of positive cases being reported in the state. So far Sweetwater County has 2,460 confirmed cases and 16 deaths.
