The West Chicago High School LifeSmarts Team represented Illinois at the 30th annual National LifeSmarts Competition.

Human trafficking bust nets 64 arrests, including one Ceres man
A Ceres man was among 64 local persons arrested as part of Turlock Police Department’s participation in the statewide Operation Rebuild and Reclaim crackdown on human trafficking.
The statewide operation, which was conducted over seven days, led to the arrest of 450 individuals and the rescue of 39 victims, including 13 minors.
In Stanislaus County the operation was conducted Jan. 28-29.
The Turlock Special Investigations Unit made 13 of the 64 arrests. One arrest was of a man who solicited an undercover officer who was posing as an underage female for sexual acts. Another arrest was made of a man for sex crimes, weapon violations and illegal narcotics sales after he was found in possession of two firearms and a large amount of illegal narcotics.
