Ammonia could be used to power ships such as this one. Ammonia, one of the most important molecules in the universe, could be powering our ships in an environmentally friendly way. In Denmark, a trial has gone underway to test the use of ammonia in a ship engine. This ship engine happens to be 3 floors tall, and the room it sits in is setup like a ship engine room. About 90% of all goods traded globally are transported over the seas however, the ships that undertake this task drink fuel. Marine transport produces around 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making it a major contributor to human enhanced climate change.
