Alachua County reacts to verdict in George Floyd murder trial


Alachua County NAACP President Evelyn Foxx said she never thought she would see a white police officer found guilty of murdering a Black man during the course of his duties.
“Justice has finally come to us,” Foxx said. “This was like the day Obama was elected president. It is just good that this is America.”
Chanae Jackson, 41, is a lifelong Gainesville resident. She is a mother of four with two grown sons who said she lives in fear they will be mistreated by police. 
I m numb but just overwhelmed with emotion but in a very positive way. There s hope, Jackson said. I try to celebrate some of the wins, but it s very difficult to fully enjoy those wins because we never know what s around the corner. ....

Police turn to scanning technology to identify suspects

Three people died and five others were injured in a St. Johns County crash early Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Rioters in the U.S. Capitol who streamed or selfied their invasion should not have been surprised when police came knocking with an arrest warrant.
But with the increasing use of technology such as facial recognition and license plate readers along with ubiquitous cameras it no longer takes self documentation to catch suspects.
