Through F-1 Doctors, Yale's doctors in training make it easier for international students to attend U.S. medical schools Yale School of Medicine

Rachel Jaber Chehayeb wanted to stay in the U.S. to attend medical school after graduating from Yale College, but she knew it would be difficult. As a Lebanese citizen, she would have to navigate visa requirements and loans without nearby family or a ready support network. “I only knew of one person who had done it,” said Chehayeb, a first-year medical student at Yale School of Medicine. “There was not a community of international medical students.”
The typical and less complicated path, said Chehayeb, is for international students to attend medical schools in their home countries and come to the U.S. for their residencies. In fact, international students account for fewer than 3% of applicants to U.S. medical schools and just .5% of enrollees. Less than one-third of U.S. medical schools (49 total) even accept international students. ....

Surviving and Thriving: Mr. Dino's Celebrates 40 Years in Watchung Plaza

After 40 years, Mr. Dino’s Pizzeria, and owners Angelo and Pasquale Loconsole, deserve a celebration for not just surviving but thriving while serving local customers and weathering Montclair’s difficult year. The crew at Mr. Dino’s would love to throw the biggest, most delicious, pizza-laden party the town has seen. But: Global Pandemic. Even so, the four decade milestone will be celebrated, if not with the same crowds and group fanfare originally hoped.
A great many Montclair-area residents have warm and tasty memories dating back to Mr. Dino’s first location on the corner of North Fullerton and Watchung. The jukeboxes and wooden bucket seats in the original pizzeria had stories to tell of family joys and drama, teenagers planning parties, and Mr. Dino’s patriarch, Nicola Lonconsole, peeling potatoes and bossing his sons Angelo and Pasquale around the pizzeria. ....
