Chickasha Wheat Field Day set for April 30

Wheat is the largest cash crop in Oklahoma, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data.
Free field day can be attended in person or viewed online.
Wheat growers should make plans now to attend Oklahoma State University Extension’s 2021 Chickasha Wheat Field Day on April 30 or watch video presentations of the event online afterward.
The 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. field day will take place at the OSU South Central Research Station in Chickasha, Oklahoma, located at 1105 E. Iowa St. near State Highway 62. There is no cost to attend. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines will be implemented, including social distancing and the wearing of face masks. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided to attendees. ....

DEVILS LAKE - Producers and others will have an opportunity to learn about acidic soil management during a webinar that North Dakota State University Extension is hosting March 25.
The event will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Mountain time.
“We’re seeing stratified soil acidity where the pH is below 5.5 in portions of fields and, in some cases, across entire fields in western North Dakota,” says Ryan Buetow, Extension cropping systems specialist based at NDSU’s Dickinson Research Extension Center. “This can lead to aluminum toxicity, nutrient tie-up, issues with herbicide carryover and reduced microbial activity. We’re continuing on-farm projects in 2021 and have put together multiple resources including Soil Sense Podcast episodes, YouTube videos, Extension publications and educational events.” ....
