smiley, for example, senator patty murray. in oregon the governorship is up there. a republican may win that seat. in new york we have sean patrick maloney the head of the dccc having to defend his seat possibly in new york. when you look at the campaign styles democrats have been campaigning on i d logical issues where republicans have been campaigningology on issues regardless of party inflation, economy. much like joe biden has governed. they sounded the alarm about a week ago saying they needed to finally get focus back on the economy but they haven t been focused on the issues that voters care about and that s why they have there to defend territory from the west to east coast and see how tight those margins are as results come in tonight. bret: karl, you have people talking in your ear from all over the country. you are looking at these numbers. anything? look, it s very early so everybody at this point, particularly if your polls have not closed or just talking there is one
abrams that s what i will be watching tonight. bret: one more question on senator scott. does he have bigger ambitions after this election? i think he wants to buy the dallas cowboys. dana: have you been encouraging him to bigger things for a long time, trey. whether or not he is listening to you we don t know. trey: i haven t talked to him in the last 30 minutes. [laughter] he is grateful for the chance to serve for six more years. i know that. bret: head over to bill hemmer at the billboard i do getzing some of these races. bill: introduce you to new features and for the next several hours take our viewers and folks in the studio here through what we believe will be the best way to track this race. okay? so two new features here. i m going to start in virginia with these key house races, okay? we call them key because they begin tonight these are three of the toss-ups in the state of virginia. so, they can either be toss-up states or they can be democratic or republicans
7 points in a different direction now and it s a whole different ballgame republicans believe in this part of virginia. remember what they said from the beginning, this is your bellwether for majority in the house. this is the question about whether or not there is a red wave and this is the question as to how high that wave could or could not be. it s early. bret: it s early. hey, brit, what about these governors winning with big spreads? dewine we call with very little is competence, right? brit: yes, and it effects the senate races. in georgia, for example, brian kemp he is going to win it looks like. pretty confident about that. will he win and pull herschel walker over the finish line? herschel walker is running behind him in the early information that we have. so, these governor s races count as for themselves but they are also in some places critical to the fortunes of some of these other candidates. bret: new hampshire is
georgia walch fulton county in atlanta throughout the night. while i have a minute check the senate race as well. okay, so raphael warnock has some votes now in 70% okay, 7% tabulated with a lead over walker. so then you ask yourself where are the votes coming from? and here in the state of georgia, fulton county is going to be something we will watch throughout the night. i want to draw a circle here. there are 16 counties that make up greater atlanta, georgia. stacey abrams campaigns hard there. raphael warnock spends a lot of time there. we are going to see throughout many of these different counties now how they are breaking throughout the evening tonight. so that s the set-up and we will see how it goes and i will get that sucker cleared off in a minute. back to you guys with more coming up shortly. bret: virginia dumps early. they get a lot of votes pretty early. in the next few minutes we should see some of that already.
bret: december 6th. we can predict tim scott will win a second full time defeating democrat kristin matthews. steve. martha: we expect rand paul will win a third term defeating booker. bret: ed to young defeats tom mcdermott. in vermont democrat peter welch will replace retiring patrick leahy for the senator for the green mountain state. all right. so this is a look at the balance of power right now early in the night. a majority is 51 as we know. as it stands right now. you have a 50/50 senate. as we get some of these early votes. in this is look at where we stand. bret: now over to the races for georgia. starting with georgia governor brian kemp has a slight lead against stacy abrams. too early to call. not clear whether kemp with reach 50% run off we just talked
