West Delaware’s Jax Miller narrowly missed out on the boys’ state wrestling tournament in 2022 and qualified as a district runner-up in 2023. On Saturday, in his home gym, the junior Hawk found himself in uncharted territory and for good reason.
West Delaware returned to the State Duals for the seventh straight season. They have reached the finals the last six seasons. The Hawks enter as the No. 4 seed in Class 2A. Action begins Saturday at 9 a.m. at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
On the back of West Delaware’s boys’ wrestling practice shirts is a simple slogan: “Earning it.” The fourth-ranked Hawks did just that with a 43-24 win over No. 23 Decorah in a Class 2A regional dual Tuesday night, earning them a berth in the Class 2A state duals tournament Saturday at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
