May 14, 2021 | 9:46 PM PIERRE – Pierre Governor Baseball swept a doubleheader with relative ease Friday 10-2 and 12-2 over Sioux Falls Washington at Hyde Stadium. Bennett Dean was the hitting star for the Governors in the first game, going three-for-four with five RBI, including a three-run triple.  Maguire Raske had a two-run single.  Lincoln Kienholz and Jayden Wiebe also drove in runs.  Kienholz also struck out six in five and a third innings for the win. After spotting a Washington run in the first inning of game two, Pierre (18-4) rallied with seven runs in the home first.  Jacob Mayer and Gary Nedved had two-run singles in the big inning.  Kienholz had two RBI singles and Dean stole home.  Brady Getz was the winning pitcher, striking out five in three innings.

May 9, 2021 | 9:41 PM PIERRE – A big inning in the first game and a shutout in the second game led Pierre Governor Baseball to a doubleheader sweep of Sturgis Sunday at Hyde Stadium 8-6 & 4-0. Pierre (16-4) trailed 4-2 before scoring six runs in the fourth inning of the first game.  A Sturgis error tied the game before Matthew Hanson gave the Governors the lead with an RBI groundout.  Maguire Raske had an RBI single, then Bennett Dean hit a two-run single later in the inning.  Andy Gordon hit a two-run double in the third inning. Brady Getz pitched a two-hit shutout in the second game, striking out five.  Gary Nedved had a two-run fourth-inning double for Pierre.  Collin Brueggeman drove in a round with a groundout and Jayden Wiebe singled in a two-run fifth inning.

Sturgis Falls to Pierre in Both Games of a Doubleheader May 10, 2021Sports PIERRE, S.D. Both Pierre T.F. Riggs and Sturgis had their offenses going on Sunday in game one of a doubleheader, but the Scoopers eventually succumbed 8-6 in the high-scoring affair. Sturgis got things moving in the first inning. Ridge Inhofer’s sac fly scored one run for the Scoopers. After Sturgis scored two runs in the top of the third, Pierre answered with two of their own. The Scoopers scored when David Anderson tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Inhofer singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. The Governors then answered when Andy Gordon doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Pierre pulled away for good with six runs in the fourth inning.
