May 12, 2021 NEW ULM The New Ulm Airport Commission recommended no changes be made to the airport’s flight pattern, Tuesday. Recently the City of New Ulm has been considering making changes to the flight pattern planes make before landing at the New Ulm airport, to reduce noise. The New Ulm City Council and city staff have received many complaints regarding noise at the municipal airport. The city considered altering plane flight paths to reduce the noise. Currently, the flight path into New Ulm’s airport is to enter air space over New Ulm at a 45-degree angle coming from a southeastern direction. A pilot landing at the New Ulm airport will make a series of left-hand turns before approaching the runway. If the plane needs to circle before landing, it will all be done with left-hand turns.
