to say it unequivocally and unapologetically, that the data is clear, when it comes to ambition to lead, to be the leader of whatever you re doing, men, boys outnumber girls and women. what do you think of that notion, that women are holding themselves back? well, i think what sheryl sandberg is saying is that, essentially, women have internalized some of the messages that they ve been given as young as little girls, when we call girls bossy for their behavior. a sign, essentially, a negative term for their behavior. i think there s some truth to it. i think there is somewhat of an ambition gap. patty, there s a lot of backlash against her for this. there is. there are two points of view. one is that it s the institution s fault. the other view is, which is sheryl s view, it s our fault. and there s a polarization here, that s happening, and sheryl is saying, i m taking the braver point of view. the more the more difficult case to make, which is that, let s blame ourselves. s
