President trump. and it s now ten days before the senate returns to capitol hill, presumably to take up impeachment. and yet, speaker pelosi says she won t send the articles of impeachment to the senate until she sees the details of a trial process. meantime, senate majority leader mitch mcconnell and minority leader chuck schumer remain at odds over the terms of that trial. with no word of any negotiations resuming anytime soon. so for now, we are stuck exactly where we ve been for more than a week. in an impeachment purgatory with a whole lot of unknowns. will speaker pelosi s strategy work? how quickly will a senate trial happen? will we hear from witnesses who didn t testify in the house process? and how will all of this affect the presidential election? to help kick things off, i m joined by former california senator barbara boxer, who was a juror in former president bill clinton s impeachment trial nearly 21 years ago. she is now the host of the boxer podcast. and with me here in ....
You said, quote, the single most important thing we want to achieve is for president obama to be a one-term president. so how do you respond to those democratic lines of attack? well, that is true. that s my single most important political goal along with every active republican in the country. mitch mcconnell theory of opposition during the barack obama presidency was that republicans could not and should not coordinate or give barack obama any wins no matter what the substance was because their political fate was tied to him failing. and this approach drove democrats crazy. now the shoe s on the other foot democrats have the chance it to pursue a different strategy or try a different attack. and it s a definitive sign i think they re going to try something different. here to talk with me about whether that s the right strategy co-host of the boxer podcast and sam seeder, host of the majority report and msnbc ....
And the usmca announcement today is a definitive sign i think that they re going to try something different. here to talk with me about whether that s the right strategy co-host of the boxer podcast and sam seeder, host of the majority report and msnbc contributor. sam, let me start with you. do you think this is good idea? i do. i think it s a big win for the democrats. i think nancy pelosi gets it. when you have president trumpka of the afl-cio praised this deal and there are reasons for that, you know it s good when you have environmentalists saying we ve come a long way, when you have consumer protection people saying here way. hooray. the generics are going to compete with big pharma. you ve got something here. and we all know without nancy pelosi and the way she handled this, this wouldn t have gotten done. so i think it s a terrific strategy. she protects, you know, her moderates, she ll keep control. ....
President trump back in washington this morning. his feud with california continues. he attacked california s cities, leaders, even threatened to have the federal government get involved. los angeles is a disaster. if you look at san francisco it s a disaster. they re going to ruin those cities. we re going to get involved very soon on a federal basis if they don t keep up their act. if the democratic liberal politicians don t straighten it out, the federal government will have to come in. that was, of course, wednesday. joining me former u.s. senator from california barbara boxer, she also hosts the boxer podcast. matt gorman is a former aid to jeb bush and mitt romney. senator, let me start with you. the associated press reporting this about the president s feud ....
Things they ve said. i can t imagine why israel would let them in. but if they want to let them, in they can. but i can t imagine why they would do it. for more i m joined by former congressman joe walsh, a republican from illinois who is a nationally syndicated radio hose. former senator barbara boxer from california, host of the boxer podcast, and jason johnson, politics editor of the root. i want to get everybody s view on this up front. your first reaction when you heard that the president basically pressured netanyahu into barring entry to u.s. congress people, two of them. senator, what do you think of this? well, weak leaders squash dissent. trump looks so weak. what is he afraid of? and so does benjamin netanyahu look weak. now, i have been to israel many times, been to the middle east many times, and the wonderful thing about those visits is how open, how open everyone was to dissent, even the taxi cabdrivers, let alone the members of parliament and all the leaders. ....
