Giraffe sculpture is on the move

ON THE MOVE: Former Bowbrook House student, Ben Tanner, and his Mum, Nikki Rogers, Managing Director of AA Salt Services Ltd, present Fabella the giraffe to students at Bowbrook House school.
ONE of the popular giant giraffe sculptures is on the move.
Fabella the giraffe, which formed part of the Worcester Stands Tall public art trail in 2018 and once was at Worcester Foregate Street railway station, is now being adopted by children from Bowbrook House school who also raised £2,000 for St Richard’s Hospice.
In the auction at the end of the trail the giraffe was bought by AA Salt Services Ltd, for Jeannie Young, one of the founder members of the hospice. ....

Coronavirus UK: Weekly care home death toll triples in a fortnight

Care home coronavirus deaths have nearly tripled in a fortnight, damning official figures show as the disease makes a deadly resurgence in the sector.
The UK s national statistics body found 1,705 care home residents died from the virus in the week ending January 22, up from 661 a fortnight ago.
Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) also revealed care home residents make up almost a third of all Covid-19 fatalities.
There were 94,971 total deaths from the virus in England and Wales as of January 15, according to the ONS, 30,851 of which were in care homes (32.4 per cent).
Just 75 per cent of care home residents have been vaccinated against Covid, despite the vaccination scheme launching seven weeks ago. ....
