Highways England commercial director Nic Hillier confirmed yesterday that the Development Consent Order (DCO) application for the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) will not be submitted until later this year. The Planning Inspectorate’s concerns related to construction plans and the predicted ecological and environmental impact of the scheme. At the time of withdrawing the original DCO, Thames Crossing executive director Matt Palmer told NCE that the DCO would be resubmitted early in the New Year, adding that it was a “speed bump, not a complete stop”. However, speaking yesterday at an i-Construct supply chain event focused on LTC, Hillier suggested that it was going to take considerably longer than the planned 120 day delay and a further consultation is now also planned.
