Stalled for months during the pandemic, Selectmen want to see progress on Buzzards Bay apartment complex


BUZZARDS BAY The Board of Selectmen on Monday raised concerns about whether a partially developed apartment complex downtown will be finished.
Situated across from Bourne Town Hall on Perry Avenue, the Tides of Bourne will be a 55-plus, age-restricted apartment complex that will include 122 apartments with various amenities such as a shared fitness center, library, community room, lounge, chapel, movie theater and more.
But the project has been stuck in limbo due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the selectmen to wonder aloud about its future.
“People come into Buzzards Bay and Town Hall when it is open and that is the first thing they see,” Selectman Peter Meier said during the board s meeting Tuesday. “That is not the image we are looking for in Bourne.” ....

Bourne Selectmen Give Town Administrator High Marks


Bourne Town Administrator Anthony E. Schiavi’s first full year on the job has been rewarded with a glowing first performance review—and a bonus. Mr. Schiavi was given a $3,000 bonus for a job well done.
The town administrator’s review and bonus were part of the Bourne Board of Selectmen’s remote meeting on Tuesday, January 19. Board chairwoman Judith M. Froman read a review of Mr. Schiavi’s job performance that she compiled, based on her own comments and evaluations, and those submitted to her by the other board members.
“Overall, the town administrator stepped into the top executive position without pause,” Ms. Froman said. “Immediately he worked on many levels as he gained insight into the culture and needs of the town.” ....
