CHESHIRE â Being a good steward of the land is a tenet of many faiths, and many churches bring environmental awareness and sustainability elements to parishioners.
St. Peterâs Episcopal Church is one example of this earth-centered commitment. The religious organization is home to an active environmental group. Martha Blume and Marj Chapman lead the Eco-Justice Council at St. Peterâs, assisted by Joy Bonitz and family and Wendy Ciaburri, youth educator. The council began almost eight years ago.
Blume became inspired after attending the Peopleâs Climate March in 2014 in New York City. She was soon joined by others in the church, including Chapman. Together they built on their own knowledge and then set about creating a plan for their church.
