The last Monday of June just past, Michelle Bachelet the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issued an urgent call for all States and jurisdictions around the globe to adopt a “transformation agenda” to uproot and expunge systematic racism. Ms. Bachelet published a scathing report casting a spotlight on the litany of human transgression of economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights endured by people of African descent on a daily basis and across different territories and dominions.
“The status quo is untenable,” Commissioner Bachelet wrote in her report. “Systemic racism needs a systemic response.
