China amassing weapons systems at Indian border, complicating efforts to resolve border standoff

Beijing [China], May 28 (ANI): Beijing is amassing new weapons systems in its border with India complicating efforts towards a peaceful solution to the border standoff.
Citing Global Times, Asia Times reported that the Chinese People s Liberation Army (PLA) announced the deployment of new self-propelled rapid-fire mortars to conduct mobile, hit-and-run firing positions .
The mortars are the fourth new type of weapons systems brought by the PLA in the region, after the addition of a new 122-millimetre calibre self-propelled howitzer, armoured assault vehicles and long-range multiple rocket launcher systems. ....

London [UK], May 5 (ANI): External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Wednesday said that India s relationship with China is going through a very difficult phase and New Delhi has made it clear to Beijing that peace and tranquility on the border is absolutely essential for good relations.
Speaking at a Global Dialogue Series event, Jaishankar said, The relationship is going through a very difficult phase because in violation of agreements and understandings of many years, the Chinese have deployed a very large part of the military on/close to Line of Actual Control (LAC) without explanation. ....

New Delhi [India], April 20 (ANI): India reiterated that maintenance of peace and tranquility in border areas is an essential basis for the development of India-China relations.
Speaking at the Seventh ICWA (Indian Council of World Affairs)-CPIFA (Chinese People s Institute of Foreign Affairs) virtual dialogue, Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri said, Maintenance of peace and tranquility in border areas is essential basis for the development of bilateral relationship.
