Were successfully skimmed yesterday and today, high winds and big waves and having the large ship that actually performs, well, the hopes of everybody from louisiana all the way to florida, who live and make their living on the coastline, they are hoping it absolutely works. gregg: the weather and the waves have been less than ideal all week long, how has the containment boom or booms performed. reporter: crews have been going around the gulf of mexico the past two days basically determining that and it is fine, at least here in louisiana, five specific parishes where boom lines had been broken apart, thrown up on shore and here where i am in grand isle, along the beach, one stand eroded because of the wave activity and they found the erosion actually removed some sand, that had covered up oil deposits, and workers walking up and down the beach yesterday and today are discovering mortar and they have been shoveling and bagging those as well. all in all they took out 50,000 ....

Jon: what about that plan to use chemical disper sants on the oil slick? how s that going? reporter: the weather was really bad all weekend long, high winds not only laying out boom lines, a lot of them were breached, 80% according to alabama s governor, but the winds were too bad. the planes are loaded, they re ready to fly, and we do expect they will begin flying over the oil slick today. they can cover 250 acres per drop. bp s also conducting its second test today of actually pouring those chemicals 5,000 feet down into a tube all the way at the head of the leak trying to disperse it that way, and noaa s analyzing to determine whether that s safe environmentally speaking, and that could help out in the long range in the future large-scale pouring of those chemicals. right now it s unchecked oil flow, and it continues. jon: phil, thanks. jane: want to get to news on general motors, how were sales ....
