A FOOD company has hired a team of head-hunters to recruit five key staff to turbo-charge ambitious expansion plans. Harlech Foodservice, based in Criccieth and Chester, wants to strengthen the management team, to increase turnover to more than £50 million over the next three years. Part of the strategy includes finding bigger premises in the Chester area as a staging post for further growth in the North West. Managing director David Cattrall wants the new members of the team to be in place in readiness for when the tourism and hospitality industry starts to reopen when Covid lockdown restrictions are eased. ....
18th January 2021 Booker Wholesale is relaunching its website tomorrow, making it more mobile-friendly with a cleaner and fresher look than before. Other benefits include a simplified branch finder, a more straightforward checkout process, enriched product information, and the addition of picking and delivery driver instructions. A mobile phone scanner is also set to be introduced soon. Last week, Tesco revealed that its Booker unit saw total sales over the 19-week period grow 12.4%, boosted by a 14% contribution from the Best Food Logistics business it acquired last year. However, Booker’s like-for-like sales fell 8.3% over the Christmas period as the robust performance of its retail supply activities was not enough to offset the disruption in the hospitality sector caused by tightening Covid-19 restrictions. Booker’s catering sales plummeted 49% on a like-for-like basis over the Christmas period, compared to a decline of around 30% during the third quarter. ....
