Fight for Nigeria like Kudirat, HID, Fela’s mother, Abiola-Costello urges Yoruba women

Mrs Hafsat Abiola-Costello, a daughter of the late business mogul, Chief MKO Abiola, has called on South-West women to fight for the country like female icons from the region, including the late Mrs Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Mrs HID Awolowo and Mrs Kudirat Abiola.
Abiola-Costello, who was the guest speaker at the maiden conference of the South-West Women Arise for Nigeria held in Lagos State on Friday, said it was time for South-West women to make their voices heard to restore peace in the country.
She said, “We Yoruba women come from greatness – from Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti to Mama Awolowo to my own mum, Hajia Kudirat Abiola. So many women have stood and fought for Nigeria from the South-West to make Nigeria what it is today.

Prominent women from the South West geo political zone of Nigeria have called on womenfolk to lead the campaign for adequate security, peace, unity and good governance across the country, as well as aspire to occupy political offices in 2023 general elections.
The women spoke on Friday, at the maiden Conference of the South West Women Arise For One Nigeria, SWWAFON,” held in Ikeja, Lagos.
President, Women in Africa, Mrs. Hafsat Abiola-Costello, in her speech, expressed the need for women to arise and take the bull by the horn as menfolk have failed the nation.
Abiola- Costello, daughter of late business mogul, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale, MKO, Abiola, who spoke through virtual platform as a guest speaker, told the womenfolk to shun and vehemently oppose to every manipulation of the unity of the country, to prevent an outbreak of war, which will only be beneficial to selfish politicians and local and foreign arms dealers.

Women across South West under the aegis of SouthWest Women Arise in Nigeria have lamented over the spate of kidnapping and banditry affecting the security situation of the country.
They made their dissatisfaction known at the maiden ‘One Nigeria’ Conference held yesterday in Lagos.
The Women noted that they could no longer fold their hands and watch the country sink even as they stated that Nigeria is better together as against dissenting voices hitting up the polity.
Speaking earlier, The Convener, Bolanle Idowu stated that the Group is not for division as they are poised to take actions having prayed for the nation over time.
