Hereford village to get new post office after long-serving postmaster s retirement

A HEREFORDSHIRE will be getting a full-time post office once more after the retirement of the former postmaster last year.

Mobile Post Office for Herefordshire village after postmaster retired

Lea Mobile Post Office will continue to be provided by the Bromyard Postmaster, but the service stop has been relocated to The Lea Village Stores, Lea, Ross on Wye, HR9 7JZ. The outreach service for Lea will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays from 1.45pm -2.45pm, and Fridays at 2pm – 3.15pm. To accommodate the mobile service at Bodenham and Lea, we have made some minor changes to the current opening hours to the mobile services at Credenhill, Bringsty and Whitbourne. Katimay John, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted to be restoring Post Office service to Bodenham as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. We thank the postmaster for Bromyard for providing this service.”

Bodenham Post Office will close later this month as its postmaster retires A VILLAGE post office will close later this month as its postmaster is retiring. Rowland Hunt has worked in Bodenham Post Office since he was a teenager and is now retiring aged 66. His father Albert Hunt took on Bodenham Post Office at its current location in 1965 and the family have ran the service for 55 years. The branch at Bodenham will close on Tuesday, April 20, at 5.30pm. The Post Office are currently investigating options available which to reinstate a Post Office service to the local community. While the Post Office is closed alternatives are available in Burley Gate and Marden.
