Magnificent seven share £3,000 raised by Christmas Appeal

Seven charities were chosen by the mayors of our local market towns to benefit from this year s Hereford Times Christmas Appeal
IN one of the most difficult years any of us have known, we asked readers to join us in supporting seven local charities nominated by the county’s mayors.
The seven nominated charities were Leominster’s Community Wheels, pictured bottom right, “a vitally important community transport service, providing users of all ages and needs with door-to-door travel,” said Cllr Clive Thomas, nominating the charity.
In Hereford, Mayor Kath Hey nominated Phoenix Bereavement Services, which works with children and young people when someone close to them dies. Rose Bellis, (top left with Rubi Thackway, inset) were supported by Phoenix and now help others. ....

Concern over conspiracy theorists refusing to wear masks


A TOWN in Herefordshire is concerned that too many people are not wearing face coverings in shops, with the council blaming conspiracy theorists who don t think coronavirus is in the community.
Since July 24, it has been compulsory for face coverings to be worn in shops, unless medically exempt.
But Kington Chamber of Trade chairman Emma Hancock raised concerns that people are willingly flouting the rules, saying some people just don t believe coronavirus will reach the north Herefordshire town.
There is a concern in the town of people not wearing masks, in particularly in the supermarkets, she said at a full Kington Town Council meeting on Monday evening. ....
