A tradition started by the local VFW Chapter in Hutchinson County, on Memorial Day, is now carried on by the Borger Elks Lodge after the county’s VFW aged out.

ANGOLA â In the early days of what is now the George Anspaugh Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7205, the post itself sat up closer to North Wayne Street.
Through the years the post has seen some changes, including moving further back on the property and building expansions. On May 1, the comrades and auxiliary members invite the community to celebrate 75 years of the post with food, drinks, music and fun all taking place at the post, 2013 N. Wayne St.
âWe currently have 378 members including the auxiliary and our veterans,â said Post Commander Greg Thompson. âItâs split pretty much 50/50 between auxiliary and veterans.â
