NEW ULM The New Ulm Park and Recreation Commission is tentatively recommending allowing motorized electric scooters on the recreational trail.
The Park and Recreation Commission held a special meeting Thursday to review a potential ordinance related to micromobility vehicles.
micromobility vehicles are bicycles, electric-assisted bicycles, motorized foot scooters and other transportation devices. Recently the New Ulm City council held the first reading of an ordinance that would regulate renting/sharing businesses and organizations that use micromobility vehicles.

The Park and Recreation Commission identified Lakeside
Village Park as the top priority for neighborhood park
development. Recently, a tax-forfeited land parcel adjacent
to the exiting park became available. The commission recommended
acquiring the parcel to develop a part to serve
the north side of New Ulm.
NEW ULM Lakeside Village and Upper Cottonwood park areas scored the highest on the New Ulm Park and Recreations Commission’s neighborhood park matrix.
As a result of the high scores, the two parks were recommended Monday by the commission as the top priority locations for neighborhood park development.

NEW ULM The New Ulm Park and Recreation Commission discussed the criteria for developing new parks at its meeting Wednesday.
The subject of park development has been a topic of discussion in the city. Recently land became available for purchase in the Upper Cottonwood Street/Dacotah West addition that could be used for a neighborhood park. However, other neighborhoods are underserved by parks. This has led to talks with staff and the commission on how the creation of new parks is prioritized.
The city does have a list of criteria for prioritizing parks. The list has 15 questions:
