Mayor, who has long stood by the chief. The progress that weve made has been meaningful. But it hasnt been fast enough. Not for me, not for greg. And thats why i have asked chief suhr for his resignation. The mayor named as acting police chief tony chaplain, deputy chief and a 26year veteran of the department. Joining us is kqed reporter alex emslie. The tension surrounding fatal officerinvolved shootings has been going on since last year. Why the resignation at this point . I think there was a culmination of pressure. There had been a growing call that regardless of what the department would do it try to change things, chief suhr had become a lightning rod in the words of one San Francisco supervisor, a stumbling block in the words of an activist who has been working on police reform. The state of california has been in a severe drought for several years and has been under a state of emergency declared by governor jerry brown in january of 2014. Lack of rain, only 44 of the season average during these dry years. Here in Santa Clara County, most of the water is imported, half coming from the deltas aqueducts carrying water from snow and rainfall in the sierras, the other half from water pumped out of the ground. Most of our water and most people dont know this most of our water actually comes from outside of the county. So, about 55 of it actually comes from outside of the county. Most of it comes from the sacramento san joaquin delta. California is estimated to have used 81,000 acre feet of ground water storage in 2014. Thats enough for 81,000 suburban households in one year. Jose palacios has been devoting his free time to mixed martial arts for the past fourteen years, starting at the age of nineteen. Now he fights and trains for unlimited mma in milpitas. Ive always want to be a fighter since i was a little kid. Martial arts kind of became a way of helping me keep grounded. So, on monday, wednesday and friday ill, i usually run you know between three to five miles and then ill do a lot of form and stretching, right.
