Santa Clarita Memorial Day Celebration To Be Held At Eternal Valley Memorial Park
Memorial Day in the Santa Clarita Valley is set to be marked by an in-person ceremony at Eternal Valley Memorial Park this month.
The Memorial Day celebration at Eternal Valley Memorial Park aims to bring the community together to celebrate, honor and remember America’s heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty, according to event organizers.
“It’s an important event for our city to take a pause and remember what it really stands for,” said David Jackson, Army veteran and vice president of the Santa Clarita Memorial Day committee. “Servicemembers, men and women who have served our country who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.” ....

Rene Veluzat, Former Blue Cloud Movie Ranch Owner, Dies At 80
On March 21, at the age of 80, Santa Clarita actor and stuntman Rene Veluzat, known for his ownership of Blue Cloud Movie Ranch and Diamond V Movie Ranch, passed away.
Veluzat, an actor and stuntman known most for his ownership of two movie ranches in Santa Clarita, passed away on March 21, 2021 after a reportedly long battle with cancer.
“I have known Rene for many many years and I had nothing but total admiration for the gentleman,” said City Councilman Bob Kellar. “He provided the locations for many tremendous films for this community. He was just a gentleman and a great person.” ....

Canyon Country Secedes From Santa Clarita, Forms A New County, Former Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar To Lead
In a startling move, the community of Canyon Country, on the east side of the Santa Clarita Valley received approval from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to split off from both the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County. The new entity has been named Canyon Country County.
“The three ‘C’s’ are catchy,” beamed the selected head of the new county, Bob Kellar. “Sweet Lord, you should have seen the other choices. None of them would stand the cancel culture test in today’s environment.” ....

Santa Clarita Community Remembers Veteran Historian Bill Reynolds
Community advocate, Santa Clarita Valley veteran historian, and proud member of “The Boys of ‘67” William “Bill” Reynolds has died, family announced Monday.
Reynolds was born on Aug. 5, 1946, in Mineral Wells, Texas. His mother and father had met in Sydney, Australia during the Pacific theater of World War II, and had returned to his father’s hometown to raise a family.
The Reynolds family spent time in Texas, then Australia, then finally in the San Fernando Valley, where Bill would eventually graduate from Grover Cleveland High School on June 19, 1964.
After a few years working at General Motors in Van Nuys, Reynolds would be drafted into the United States Army to fight in the Vietnam War. ....
