The pandemic forced school buildings to close in March of 2020 and cancelled the 2020 MCAS. When schools reopened for the 2020–2021 school year, most operated in ways that were new to students, staff, and caregivers. But on top of all of this, the state has continuously updated guidance and requirements for schools, forcing an unprecedented number of changes to schooling formats as the year has unfolded. In the latest round of changes, the state is now forcing schools to abandon hybrid learning models to return to fully in-person learning except for those parents who will continue to opt for virtual learning. ....
