FAIRFIELD, CA – The Governing Board of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District affirmed Stavros Gougoumis as Director of Special Education to begin February 1, 2022. Gougoumis’s experience, leadership skills, and background are a match for the Director of Special Education position.

Kris Corey
Superintendent Kris Corey has over 30 years of experience in education. Her career began when she was recruited to California from South Dakota to teach at the elementary level. After 13 years in the classroom, Kris entered administration. She has served as an assistant principal, elementary principal, Director of Elementary Education, and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services prior to becoming superintendent of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District.
Kris graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development. She received her Master’s Degree from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California, in Educational Leadership. She is a fierce advocate for students and believes every student should be career and college ready upon graduation. Press Release: FSUSD Prepares for In-Person Instruction
The Governing Board of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) will vote on the return to in-person instruction plan during the January 14, 2021 Governing Board meeting. To prepare for the Governing Board’s decision, FSUSD has strategically utilized Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) dollars to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment to prepare for in-person instruction.
FSUSD’s Warehouse, Facilities, and Operations Departments implemented a robust plan to deliver PPE and safety equipment to school sites during the month of January, 2021. Depending on the school site’s grade level, each school will receive the following:
